Deutsches Seminar VGS-Workshop

Call for papers

The department of Comparative Germanic Linguistics at the University of Zurich is pleased to announce the workshop "Junge Altgermanistik” to be held on 6.-7. February 2014 in Zurich.

The event is meant to enable exchange and collaboration among young scholars in the field of historical Germanic linguistics and to provide them with an opportunity to present their projects to an international audience. We invite 20 minute talks to be presented in an informal roundtable discussion. Talks should deal with the earliest Germanic languages and preferably follow a comparative approach. The following three thematic sections are scheduled: 1. Historical Grammar (Phonology and Morphology), 2. Lexicon and Onomastics, 3. Text Transmission and Graphemics. Talks may be held in either German or English.

Hans Frede Nielsen (University of Southern Denmark), Antje Casaretto (Universität zu Köln) and Wolfgang Beck (Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena) have agreed to moderate the discussions as Senior Researchers.

Abstracts may not exceed 200 words and should be sent to "vgs-workshop" @ "ds.uzh.ch" as a PDF document.

Abstract submission deadline: 15. June 2013.
Deadline extended: 1. July 2013.
Accepted speakers will be notified by 1. August 2013.

Organizers:
Mirjam Marti (Universität Zürich)
Ludwig Rübekeil (Universität Zürich)
Luzius Thöny (Universität Zürich)

Update Jan. 2014: Block 1 will be moderated by Roland Schuhmann (Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena) instead of Hans Frede Nielsen.
